Advantages of meta tags:
Meta tags are crucial because they influence how your site shows in search engine results pages (SERPs) and how many people will click through to your site. As a result, they will have an impact on your traffic and engagement rates, which in turn will have an impact on your SEO and rankings. Meta tags are an essential component of any SEO strategy. Although some tags may not directly affect rankings, they do have an impact on how your site appears in the digital environment. They could also play a role in non-traditional search results such as Knowledge Graph, Google picture search, voice, and others. When creating content, no brand should overlook them.
Some low search engines are thought to still use it. Including a meta description element on each page may provide those pages a search engine optimization boost.
Some search engines include it in their results, especially if it contains the term sought for. (Depending on the search engine and what is looked for, search engines may display some of the meta description tag text together with a page sample, or just a snippet.) Well-written description tags that display alongside search results may be more effective than snippets of content from the website in bringing searchers to the page.
Disadvantages of meta tags:
Snippets are sometimes more effective than page summaries at providing exactly what searchers are looking for, especially if the page has a lot of content.
Working on meta description tags takes time away from the more crucial task of writing page content.
